Harry D. Steelman, 89, of Dorsey, Ill., died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
He was born May 30, 1909, in Greene County, Ill., son of Ira Franklin and Elsie Williams Steelman. He and Marie L. Campbell were married March 8, 1934, in Greene County.
Steelman was a tester in the laboratory at Shell Oil Co. 29 years, retiring in 1968. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fosterburg, Ill.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William Steelman of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Mary Mouser of Cape Girardeau, Nancy Burgoyne of Dorsey, Linda Hermsmeyer of Pleasant Plains, Ill., Marie Stackhouse of Shertz, Texas; a sister, Norma Cheneler of Dallas, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son and a grandson.
Friends may call at Paynic Home for Funerals in East Alton, Ill., after 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodney Annis officiating. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens at Bethalto, Ill.
