ESSEX -- Harry O. Gifford, 67, of Essex, died Friday, March 1, 1996, at the Dexter Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1928, in Savannah, Tenn., son of John L. and Sarah Marie Cagle Gifford.
He had lived in Essex for the past three years, moving from East Prairie. He was formerly employed by the HUBCO Muffler Co. in East Prairie. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Essex.
He is survived by five sons, Harry S. Gifford of Pekin, Ill., Ricky E., Michael W. and Harry O. Gifford Jr., all of Essex, and Wilburn L. Gifford of Dexter; one brother, John L. Gifford Jr. of East Prairie; one half-sister, Modean Puyear of Thayer; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One daughter, one great-granddaughter and one sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Raymond Grimes, pastor of the Barnes Ridge Baptist Church near East Prairie, officiating. Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
