Harry Lester Krueger, age 91, of Cape Girardeau went to his heavenly home Friday, Feb. 9, 2018.
He was born Nov. 5, 1926, in Shawano, Wisconsin, to Dewey Harry and Lydia L. Rusch Krueger. He and Mary Welker were married Aug. 8, 1953, in Cape Girardeau at Hanover Lutheran Church by the Rev. Wilhrock and assisted by the groom's brother, Vicar Roy Krueger.
He attended Lake View School in Bonduel, Wisconsin.
He served in the Army from May 1951 through May 1953 as a fireman in Alaska and drove a firetruck. Harry worked 28 years at Sunny Hill Dairy as a route salesman driver and then another 28 years for Service Four Equipment Co. (Cape Car Wash).
Harry and his wife were charter members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher since 1957. He served on the Board of Elders and The Social Ministry Board and taught Sunday School for many years.
His hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, playing music and maintaining his lawn.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (John) LaFata of Fenton, Missouri; son, David (Karen) Yoder of Edgemont, Arkansas; sister, Ruth (Erve) Mertz of West Bend, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Mary Yoder of Knoxville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Luke LaFata, Loren LaFata, Lacy LaFata, Blake Yoder, Chance Yoder, Laura Yoder, Robyn Thatcher, Dana Boucher and Dennis Hill; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Gary Yoder; and a brother, the Rev. Roy R. Krueger.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. John Dehne officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, Harry requested memorial contributions be sent to his boyhood country church: St. Paul Lutheran Church (Town of Washington), W4496 County Road E, Bonduel, WI 54107.
