Harry F. Ivester, 85, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 22, 1929, in Dexter, Mo., to Zelmar Laban Ivester and Julia Ann Temple.

He and his wife Martha Ivester owned and operated Western Auto Store in Cape Girardeau for a few short years in the 1970s.

He served in the United States Air Force in the Korean War. Harry was an avid baseball and St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed golfing as well as spending time with his family.

Survivors include daughters Julie Finley of Cape Girardeau and Frances Allene Johnson of Oran; son Gregory Allen Ivester of Cape Girardeau; sister Anita Jo (Lowell) Rainey of Athens, Ga.; grandchildren Richard Jason (Judy Ann) Wilde of Fruitland, Melane Danielle Wilde of Cape Girardeau, Nicole Allison Johnson of Carbondale, Ill., and Timothy Raymond (Krystal Nichole) Finley of Cape Girardeau; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild due in August

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha and six brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, 460 N. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63141.
