Harry Delbert Hiett, 86, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Lutheran Home Providence Hospice in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Delta, the son of Dannie and Ruth Montgomery Hiett. He and Mary Ellen Snider were married May 28, 1955, in Delta, and she preceded him in death Oct. 4, 2007. He later married Helen Bannister of Cape Girardeau, who survives.
Harry retired after 33 years of service with Missouri Utilities Co., which is now Ameren. Following retirement from Ameren, he was employed in sales part-time by Capetown RV.
He was an active member of Cape County Cowboy Church in Oak Ridge.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan McFerron, and her husband, Steve Valliere; and sons, Randy (Garia) Hiett, Wayne (Pam) Hiett and Brad (Brenda) Hiett, all of Cape Girardeau.
Other survivors include grandsons, Derek (Suzanne) Hiett of Marble Hill, Ross (Alisa) McFerron of Cape Girardeau, Tanner (Aly) Hiett of Jackson and Josh Hiett of Cape Girardeau; granddaughters, Lindsey Medley of Cape Girardeau, Emily (Kyle) Alley of Cape Girardeau and Brittney (Lance) Rhodes of Carterville, Illinois; 13 great-grandchildren; stepdaughters, Janis (Randy) Roddy of Nevada, Texas, and Judy (Paul) Patenaude of Midlothian, Texas; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Garnett and Carolyn Ossick of Athens, Georgia; sister-in-law, Eva Lou Black of St. Louis; and many other relatives and friends.
Harry was preceded in death by sister, Pat Donaldson; brother, Doug Hiett; son-in-law, Kenny McFerron; stepson, Keith Bannister; and infant son, Roger Lynn Hiett.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, with the Rev. Eric Shrum officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau following the service.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Derek Hiett, Ross McFerron, Tanner Hiett, Josh Hiett, Hunter Hiett and Landen Hiett.
