ANNA, Ill. — Harry James Hessling, 79, of Anna died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his home.

He was born Aug. 30, 1928, in Chicago, son of Herman and Helen Irene Swatkowski Hess-ling. He and Rose Marie Kronenberger were married Nov. 22, 1952, in Chicago.

Hessling was a retired construction superintendent. He was a longtime member of Chicago District Council Local 434 of Carpenters.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sharon Erickson of Oak Lawn, Ill., Linda Smith of Downers Grove, Ill., Diane Williams of Vienna, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and his twin sister.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Bill Brandstatter officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery, with full military honors by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
