Harold Webb Sr.

Harold Webb Sr., 81, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011, at his home.

He was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Lovejoy, Ill., to John I. and Mattie Mae Bell Webb. He and Wilma L. Brown were married March 29, 1948, in Corinth, Miss.

Harold was a supervisor with Swift and Co. in East St. Louis, Ill., from 1945 until he joined the military in 1952.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.

After serving in the Army, Harold returned to Swift where he retired after a total of 40 years. He loved to go to horse races.

Harold confessed his faith in Jesus at a young age.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Wilma Webb of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Harold Webb Jr. (Linda) of Cape Girardeau, John "Tony" Webb of East St. Louis, Johnny Smith Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Edgar McIntyre of Venice, Ill.; nine daughters, Madeline Webb-Fletcher (Albino Bejinez) and Kimetha Patterson of Long Beach, Calif., Mariel Webb-Lyons of Edwardsville, Ill., Willa Pikes (Edmund) and Teresa Harris (Eorrell) of Cape Girardeau, Colleen Jones-Wallace (Anthony) of Los Angeles, Lisa Williams (Calvin) of East St. Louis, Lynetta Montgomery (David) of Jacksonville, Ill., Denise Brown of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Marvin Webb of Huntington, Tenn.; 31 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Zenobia Murphy and Erma Webb; a brother, Jewell Webb; and a son, Tommy Kennedy.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating.

Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
