Harold D. Watson, 76, of Collinsville, Ill., formerly of Scott City, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
He was born Feb. 19, 1930, at Scott City, son of Virgil and Ora Speck Watson. He and Alice Murrell were married Sept. 12, 1981.
Watson was a longtime employee of A&P and General Grocer. He was a member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church at Collinsville. Watson was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marilyn Marich of Orland Park, Ill., Karolyn Smith of O'Fallon, Ill.; two stepsons, Tom Murrell of Shiloh, Ill., Don Murrell of Vandalia, Ill., a stepdaughter, Carolyn Atwood; two sisters, Martha Johnston of Scott City, Margie Blankenship of Jackson; five stepgrandchildren and a great-stepgrandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Meadow Heights Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jim Donahue and Dale Clemens officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens at Fairview Heights, Ill.
