Harold Staats, 89, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 8, 1924, near Zalma, Mo., son of Francis and Alma Shell Staats. He and Glodena Hendrix were married Oct. 1, 1946, in Cape Girardeau.
Harold was a member of Bethel General Baptist Church near Advance, Mo., and had served as a deacon 40 years. He was manager at Shirrell Ready Mix in Advance until he retired in 1989. He raised registered Angus cattle on the family farm until he moved to Cape Girardeau in January 2006.
Survivors include his wife, Glodena Staats of Cape Girardeau; a son, Daniel (Dianne) Staats of Zalma; three daughters, Connie (Dan) Sitze of Dexter, Mo., Marsha (Mitchell) Eaker of Marble Hill, Mo., and Angela (Carl) Ritter of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Stella Mae Pittman of Advance; eight grandchildren, Eric (Delisa) Sitze, Heather (Loyd) Rice, Carisa (Bill) Sullinger, Beverly (Scott) Stephens, Andrea (Jeremy) Waterbury, Ashley (Paul) Sitze, Jared Ritter and Kacie (Jeremy) Patton; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Revs. Ray Placher and Dan Sitze officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
