Harold Edgar Pfeiffer, 90, of Gordonville died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Shawneetown, Mo., son of Oswald A. and Ella Lydia Oswald Pfeiffer. He and Margaret R. Petschke were married Nov. 26, 1949, in Downers Grove, Ill.
He served in the military police with the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Luzon, Philippines and occupied Japan.
Harold farmed in the Shawneetown, Chaffee, Mo., and Gordonville communities, where he bred and raised registered Angus cattle. He also showed and sold his Angus throughout western and southern Missouri.
Harold was a member of Zion Luthern Church of Gordonville, VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau, the American and Missouri Angus associations, The Missouri Cattlemen's Association and numerous other Angus associations.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Gordonville; a son Jerry (Abby) Pfeiffer of Pacific Grove, Calif.; two daughters, Nancy (Mike) Cracraft of Jackson and Janice (Mark) Collier of Gordonville; a brother, Leonard Pfeiffer of Jackson; a sister, Verna Schade of O'Fallon, Mo.; five grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Cracraft of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Ashley Cracraft and Neil (Lori) Collier, all of Jackson, Gabe and Nick Pfeiffer of Pacific Grove; and two great-grandchildren, Colden Pfeiffer and Allie Cracraft. He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley, and a sister, Helen.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church of Gordonville, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with full military honors.
