CHAFFEE -- Harold L. Halbert, 63, of Chaffee, died Sunday, July 24, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 10, 1931, at Chaffee, son of Pearl Clifford and Harriet Caroline Leach Halbert.
He married Dottie Scheeter, July 16, 1955.
Halbert is a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy.
He worked as a brakeman for the Burlington-Northern Railroad in Chaffee, retiring in 1983 due to poor health.
He was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, the Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810, the Chaffee American Legion Post 389, and the United Transportation Union.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Hal Halbert of Grandin, Scott Halbert of Azle, Texas, Mitch Halbert of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Jan Halbert of Chaffee; a brother, Webb M. Halbert of Sarasota, Fla.; three sisters, Cleo Houseman of Chaffee, Ava Latta of Ballwin, Bonnie Jones of Chandler; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Edward Eftink officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
