PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Harold F. Klaus, 89, of Perryville died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Perry County Nursing Home. He was born Nov. 1, 1915, at Farrar, Mo., son of Herman H. and Mattie Moeller Klaus. He and Martha Elva Guelzow were married Oct. 29, 1943. She died May 8, 1997...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Harold F. Klaus, 89, of Perryville died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born Nov. 1, 1915, at Farrar, Mo., son of Herman H. and Mattie Moeller Klaus. He and Martha Elva Guelzow were married Oct. 29, 1943. She died May 8, 1997.

Klaus worked at Klaus Construction. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Lutheran Men's Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and past president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Development, Perry County Port Authority and Southeast Missouri Regional Library.

He was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include five sons, Harold Klaus Jr. of Carlsbad, N.M., Gene Klaus of Lafayette, Mo., Karl Klaus of Perryville, Paul Klaus of Cape Girardeau, Kurt Klaus of St. Louis; a daughter, Robin McManus of Belleville, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. An American Legion wake will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Christopher Cole officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Cemetery, with military graveside service.
