Harold O. Johns, 73, of Jackson passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at his home.
He was born Nov. 23, 1940, in Sikeston, Missouri, son of James H. and Alta M. Holmes Johns. He and Jean Wagner were married Feb. 14, 1997, in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Harold enjoyed playing golf at the Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course, where he belonged to the SEMO Senior Golfing Group. Harold attended Cape County Cowboy Church near Oak Ridge and volunteered many hours during the construction of the church.
Loving survivors include his wife, Jean; two daughters, Cheryl Martin of Fenton, Missouri, and Janelle (Michael) Potts of Rogers, Arkansas; two stepdaughters, Deborah Sue Baravati of Chicago and Cinthia Ellen Gaines of Dexter, Missouri; a stepson, Ned Ackman of Jackson; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and six great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marie Johns Gibson and Joyce Burk Lubinski.
Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Fruitland.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Cape County Cowboy Church or to the American Cancer Society.
