OAK RIDGE -- Harold Hunt, 70, of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 1996, at his home. He was born April 1, 1926, in East Prairie, son of James T. and Eula Mae Barley Hunt. OAK RIDGE -- Harold Hunt, 70, of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 1996, at his home.

He was born April 1, 1926, in East Prairie, son of James T. and Eula Mae Barley Hunt. He and Meta Walther were married Dec. 25, 1948.

Hunt was employed 30 years at American Can Co., retiring Aug. 1, 1980, as mechanical supervisor. He moved to Oak Ridge in 1980 from Holland, Pa.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, American Legion Post 158 and Honor Guard in Jackson, VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, treasurer and past commander of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 16 of Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dennis Hunt of Woodbine, Md., Dale Hunt of Cape Girardeau, David Hunt of Jackson; a brother, Art Hunt of DeSoto; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today. The American Legion at Jackson will have an honor guard service at 7:30.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Zion Church. The Rev. Howard Mueller will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
