CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Private funeral service was held recently for Harold E. Niebuhr of Austin, Tex., at Harrell Funeral Home there.
Niebuhr, 81 years old, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 1991.
He received a B.A. degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin, master's in education from Southwest Texas State University at San Marcos, and Ph.D. in educational psychology from East Texas State University at Commerce.
He was a teacher, coach, counselor and administrator with Texas public schools more than 30 years. He was a university professor eight years in counseling and educational psychology.
Niebuhr lived in Cape Girardeau for a time, and was an aerologist in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ida Mae Lindemann; two daughters, Karen McGill and Gretchen Claiborne of Austin; a brother, Clarence Niebuhr of Austin; two grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
