Harold M. Davis, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, Ill.
He was born Feb. 13, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, son of Burette O. and Flora J. Whittaker Davis. He and Virginia Smith were married May 10, 1946, in Cape Girardeau.
Davis was assistant superintendent of buildings and grounds at Southeast Missouri State University 32 years. For the past 23 years he was a salesman with Daycoa.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, a deacon, Sunday School division director, member of Glory Singers, Sanctuary Choir, and King Men Gospel Five. He was a member of Executive Club, Exchange Club, Disabled American Veterans, and was a former leader with Boy Scout Troop 10.
Davis served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Barry Davis of Sikeston, Mo., the Rev. Rodney Davis of Morley, Mo.; a daughter, Donna Komorech of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Betty Jackson of Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Andy Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with military rites by VFW Post 3838.
