PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- H. Harold Davis, 80, of Perryville died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born April 8, 1934, in Gastonia, North Carolina, son of Ben and Ollie Harrell Davis. He and Margaret R. Lakenan were married April 5, 1958. She preceded him in death Sept. 7, 1994. He and Elaine H. Steffens Hadler were married May 18, 1996. She preceded him in death July 28, 2014...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- H. Harold Davis, 80, of Perryville died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 8, 1934, in Gastonia, North Carolina, son of Ben and Ollie Harrell Davis. He and Margaret R. Lakenan were married April 5, 1958. She preceded him in death Sept. 7, 1994. He and Elaine H. Steffens Hadler were married May 18, 1996. She preceded him in death July 28, 2014.

Harold had been president of Lakenan Insurance Agency Co. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church. He was past president of Perryville Development Corp. and was a member of the Perryville School Board, Perryville park board, Elks Lodge 2701, Perryville Country Club, Perryville Lions Club and Perryville Chamber of Commerce.

He graduated from Davidson College in 1956, where he was three-time captain of the football team.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Lakenan Davis of Chicago, Dr. Craig Stephen Davis of Portland, Oregon; two grandsons, Benjamin McAllister Davis of West Point, New York, Matthew McAllister Davis of Portland; four stepdaughters and four stepsons, Denise (Stanley) Brueckner, Michael (Gwendy) Hadler, Sandra Roth, Randall (Tina) Hadler and Dianne (David) Richardet, all of Perryville, Stanley (Jennifer) Hadler of Altenburg, Missouri, and Susan (Richard) Dix of Perryville and David Hadler of Frohna; 22 stepgrandchildren; and 12 great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Anne Richardson Davis; both wives; a brother, Roland Davis; and two sisters, Helen Lyerly and Stella Ware.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Nancy Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Home Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church or American Lung Association.
