CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for Harold Lynn Bumpous of Charleston will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Gerald Collier will officiate, with burial in Barlow Cemetery at Barlow, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
Bumpous, 49, died Wednesday, June 19, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, of an apparent heart attack.
He was born June 24, 1946, in Cairo, Ill., son of J.V. and Aline Gay Bumpous. He and Barbara Carter were married Aug. 20, 1989.
Bumpous had lived in Charleston six years. He was employed by ADL Construction Co. of Olmsted. He was a member of Operating Engineers 181 of Paducah, Ky. He was an airplane mechanic in the U.S. Air Force from 1964-67, stationed in Germany. He received his amateur radio license in 1994 and was recently elected a member of the American Radio Relay League Inc.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jason Bumpous of Charleston; two daughters, Lora Carter of Cairo, Chrystal Bumpous of Olney, Texas; a stepson, Robbie Griggs of the home; a sister, Linda Lampkin of Wickliffe, Ky., and two grandchildren.
