CROWDER, Mo. -- Hallie Claire Dye, 95, of Crowder died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Cypress Point Nursing Home in Dexter, Mo.
She was born July 24, 1907, in Crowder, daughter of Walter and Rachel Cunningham Smith. She and Carl William Dye were married Dec. 28, 1927. He died Nov. 27, 1981.
Dye was a graduate of Vanduser High School, and while teaching first and second grades at Crowder School obtained a bachelor of arts degree and teaching credentials from Southeast Missouri State University. She then taught first grade at Sikeston, Mo., Public Schools, retiring after 44 years.
Survivors include a nephew, Wilbur Smith of Central Point, Ore.; two nieces, Mary Holman of Festus, Mo., and Naomi Hilpipre of Merced, Calif.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with Woodrow Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
