EAST PRAIRIE -- Hallie B. Burns, 85, of East Prairie, died Tuesday, April 11, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Aug. 5, 1909, in Columbus, Ky., daughter of James Garfield and Lucy Frances Massey Furgerson. She and Richard Parden were married Feb. 22, 1924. He died May 24, 1966. She married Ralph Scherffius Sept. 5, 1967, who died in 1983. She later married Carl Burns Dec. 11, 1983.
Burns was a member of St. James General Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; six sons, Norman Parden of West Hollywood, Fla., William Parden of Lincoln Park, Mich., James and Daniel Parden of Kansas City, Kan., Thomas Parden Jr. of Kansas, Clyde Parden of Mt. Clements, Mich.; three daughters, Mildred Weems of East Prairie, Mary Carroll of Trenton, Mich., Pansy Calladine of South Gate, Mich.; a sister, Edna Fenton of Litchfield, Ill.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Ernest Brown and David Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
