James Harold "Hal" Greene, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Feb. 13, 1926, in County Westmeath, Southern Ireland, son of James and Sarah Jane Naylor Greene.
Mr. Greene moved to Canada in 1929. He accepted Jesus Christ as Savior April 23, 1940. He moved to the United States in March 1947.
He and Norma Cronsberry were married Sept. 13, 1947, in Canada.
Mr. Greene graduated from Emmaus Bible College in Chicago in June 1950. He moved to Nashville, Tenn., in August 1951 to help start a church. He moved to Cape Girardeau in January 1965 to start Cape Bible Chapel, where he ministered until his death.
He was loved by many.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Norma Greene of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Jack Greene and Norm (Pam) Greene of Jackson, Dan (Tempa) Greene of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Dick (Nancy) Greene, Roy (Helen) Greene and Marv Greene, all of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren, Dixie Kaye Greene and Blake Jackson Greene of Jackson, Lindsey Jo Greene and Ryan David (Christy) Steck of Cape Girardeau, Shane Robert Steck of New Hampshire; and two great-grandchildren, Ryanna Marie Steck of Cape Girardeau and Conner Jackson Greene of Jackson.
Friends may call at Cape Bible Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with Dan Greene officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
