Hailey Lynn Dacus, 7, of Fruitland, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 8, 2001, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Mitchell B. and Victoria L. Linhart Dacus.

Hailey was a second-grade student at North Elementary School in Fruitland. Before that she attended Blanchard Elementary School in Cape Girardeau. She received the Cats-Meow award every quarter and excelled in all her classes. Hailey had a great personality that touched and amazed all who met her. She was the first to hug and greet family and friends with a smile and was crazy about her pets, Chet, Emma, Lady and Charles. She was a loving and caring big and little sister and will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her parents, Mitchell and Victoria Dacus of Fruitland; two brothers, Quinton L. and Caleb B. Dacus of the home; paternal grandparents, Judi and Tom McMullin of Chaffee, Mo., and Bill and Sally Dacus of Cape Girardeau; maternal great-grandmother, Pearlene Hannah of Marble Hill, Mo.; and paternal great-grandmothers, Cora Fee and Rosemary Dacus of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Jerry and Carolyn Linhart.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Winferd Wren officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to the family of Hailey Lynn Dacus.
