Hadley Hartman

Hadley W. Hartman, 89, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 12, 1913, in Whitewater, Mo., son of Charles W. and Rosie T. A. Baker Hartman. He and Emma Cook were married March 23, 1940. She passed away on Aug. 31, 1977. He and Marie Gartung-Green were married Jan. 2, 1982. She passed away on July 20, 1999.

Raised in the Gordonville, Mo., community, Hadley was baptized and confirmed at Zion Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong member and continued to be as active as his health would allow.

As a young man, Hadley farmed in Allenville, Mo., and worked at the former handle factory in Jackson. After moving to Jackson, he became employed at Ceramo Pottery Manufacturing where he was instrumental in all operations of the plant. After 40 years of service, he retired in 1978.

Loving survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Doyle McClanahan of Jackson; a brother and sister-in-law, James "Jim" and Bernice Hartman of Gordonville; a sister, Gladys Wedekind of Oregon, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Dawn Hartline, her husband Richie, and children Emily and Amanda, all of Jackson, and Dewayne McClanahan, his wife Rhonda, and their son Logan.

Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Clemon E. Gartung of Gordonville; a sister-in-law, Verna Lee Nitsch of Jackson; and three nieces, Cindy Raganyi, her husband Keith, Lynette Moore, her husband Jay, and Rhonda Norman and her husband Brandon, all of Jackson; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Colista Thoma and Stella Cook; and a great-granddaughter, Haley McClanahan.

Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ann Mowery will officiate, with interment in the Zion Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville.
