Shipley, 58, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1993, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Ill.

He was born June 1, 1934, in Brownstown, Ill., son of Charles G. and Goldie Mae Haslett Shipley. He and Charlotte Thompson West were married in 1967.

Shipley had been a truck driver, and veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Fred Shipley Jr. of Witt, James and Robert Shipley of the home; three daughters, Debra Rayfield of Elsinore, Vickie Anderson of Litchfield, Ill., Mary Thompson of Aurora, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Candi Gilindo of Aurora, Karen Mariner of Decatur; a sister, Betty Shell of Glen Allen; a brother, Charles Shipley of Dexter; 14 grandchildren; stepmother, Hallie Vesterby of Marble Hill; a stepsister, Lorena Eaker of Churchill, Tenn., and a stepbrother, Frederick Shell of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, a grandson, and a stepbrother.
