ADVANCE, Mo. -- Gwendolyn "Joann" Guffey, 80, of Advance passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Advance Nursing Center.

She was born Feb. 27, 1933, at Ardeola, Mo., the daughter of Bill and Earleen Matheney Abner.

Survivors include three sons, Michael R. Long of Monett, Mo., Phillip Flowers of Aurora, Ill., and Mitchell Long of Advance; a daughter, Vicky Shurtleff of Waterville, Iowa; five brothers, Martin "Boots" Abner, Lester Abner, Ben Abner, Richard Abner and John Thomas Abner; six sisters, Betty Autry, Dean Fowler, Pearl Tyler, Connie Schafer, Bonnie Bishop and Melba Storher; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City, Mo., with the Rev. Brad Moore officiating.

Morgan Funeral Home in Advance is in charge of arrangements.
