Memorial service for Gustav A. Zadick of Brentwood, Tenn., will be held at 1 p.m. today at Brentwood United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jacob Gardiner will officiate.
Brentwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Zadick, 91, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, in Nashville, Tenn.
He was born Sept. 25, 1905, in Chicago, son of Adolph and Marie Levy Zadick. He married Billie McAllister, who died in 1995.
Zadick was a member of the Red Wings baseball team in Rochester, N.Y., from 1925-28. He batted .342 in 1926, the second highest average that season in the International League. He previously had played for the Cardinals of Evansville, Ind., and the Cardinals of Waynesboro, Pa.
He had owned and was president of the former Cape Burial Case Co., a casket manufacturing firm in Cape Girardeau. He retired as president of Tom Marvin Enterprises, a vending equipment distributing firm in Memphis, Tenn.
Survivors include a son, Michael Zadick of Nashville; a daughter, Alice Zadick of Brentwood; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
