Gusta F. Koehler, 89, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 1, 1924, in Jackson daughter of Gus and Leona Wohlgemuth Wedekind. She and Charles William "Bud" Koehler were married Jan. 22, 1942. He passed away Aug. 16, 1990.
Gusta was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson. In addition to working at the former Kroger Egg Plant, she and Bud owned and operated Bud's Vacuum Sales and Service in Cape Girardeau from 1964 to 2005. She also had a creative flair, which she enjoyed sharing through her profession of creating wedding cakes, clothing and draperies.
Loving survivors include sons Charles W. (Wanda) Koehler of Thomasville, Pa., Ronald (Norman) Koehler of Jackson, Dan (Linda) Koehler of Glen Rock, Pa., Joe (Geneva) Koehler of Coppel, Texas, and Rick Koehler of Jackson; daughter Judy (Gene) Dale of Jackson; sister Ella (Warren) Skinner of Jackson; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; a son, Doug; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter; a great-great-grandson, Cory; and a sister, Marie Savers.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Harth officiating.
Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson.
