DIEHLSTADT -- Funeral service for Gregory Neil Carr of Diehlstadt was held Saturday at McMikle Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Revs. Jim Romine and Charles Kohlbaker officiated, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Carr, 27 years old, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 1990, at the Veterans Hospital in Marion, Ill., following an extended illness.
He was born June 20, 1963, at Sikeston, son of Donald Joe and Betty Jackson Carr. He served with the U.S. Navy seven years in Norfolk, Va., and was later a deputy sheriff there. He was a member of the Fraternal Police Department in Norfolk, and Cornerstone General Baptist Church at Bertrand.
Survivors include his father of Sikeston; his mother, Betty Goering of Diehlstadt; two brothers, Jay Carr with the military in Saudi Arabia, Justin Carr of Sikeston; two sisters, Donna and Janie Carr of Sikeston; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Carr of Sikeston, and maternal grandmother, Dorothy Jackson of Charleston Route 2.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ike Jackson.
