Gregory "Greg" Powles Shivelbine, 61, died of a heart attack Monday, June 8, 2020, while on a fishing trip to Wisconsin.

Greg was born Aug. 26, 1958 to L.J. "Freck" and D. Janet Powles Shivelbine.

He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1976 and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

Greg began working in the family business, Shivelbine's Music, as a teen, eventually becoming a part-owner with his brothers and cousin. He spent virtually his entire career calling on school band directors, helping families and schools acquire and maintain band instruments for their students. "G-bine" was an excellent drummer, performing with numerous groups, including Acme Blues for many years.

Anyone who knew Greg knew of his love for fishing, hunting and all things outdoors. He was rarely seen without a fishing rod in hand or a canoe on his truck. Greg took pride in his farm, spending many hours working on the land and then in turn enjoying the fruits of his labor by turkey and deer hunting and spending many a Sunday with friends on his pond. He was always ready with a story of one of his adventures, which he loved to tell with great enthusiasm.
