BLOOMFIELD -- William Grady Vandiver, 69, of Bloomfield died Tuesday, April 1, 1997, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Reagan, Tenn., son of Walter and Melvina Middleton Vandiver. He and Bertie Grissom were married Oct. 16, 1948.

Vandiver was a farmer and had lived in the Bloomfield area most of his life. He was a member of First General Baptist Church and the American Legion Post. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth and Jeff Vandiver of Bloomfield; a daughter, Angie Mahaffey of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
