MILLCREEK, Ill. -- Grady U. Sappington, 78, of Millcreek died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Union County Hospital.
He was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Floyd, Ark., son of John Weston and Sarah Elizabeth Keith Sappington. He and Ruby Newton were married Jan. 29, 1958, in St. Louis.
Sappington was a television and electronics repairman. He was a member of Jesus Name Pentecostal Mission Church.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Esther Holderbach of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Grady Sappington Jr. of Anna, Ill., Jesse Sappington of Little Rock, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Naomi Shannon of St. Louis; two stepsons, Marvin Lute Jr. of Waipahu, Hawaii, Daniel Lute of Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Delavina Ferrin of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a brother, Quentine Sappington of Little Rock, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ill., from 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of service.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
