IRONTON, Mo. -- Grace Trautwein died Friday, April 14, 2001, at the Baptist Home in Ironton. She had been a resident of the Baptist Home since May 3, 1990. She was born Jan. 15, 1917, at Festus, Mo., younger daughter of Maude Morris Nengel and Alexander Nengel. She and Norman "Frosty" Trautwein of Washington, Mo., were married Aug. 31, 1940...

IRONTON, Mo. -- Grace Trautwein died Friday, April 14, 2001, at the Baptist Home in Ironton. She had been a resident of the Baptist Home since May 3, 1990.

She was born Jan. 15, 1917, at Festus, Mo., younger daughter of Maude Morris Nengel and Alexander Nengel. She and Norman "Frosty" Trautwein of Washington, Mo., were married Aug. 31, 1940.

Trautwein lived in the Festus-Crystal City area all her life until moving to Ironton. She was baptized in the First Baptist Church at Festus-Crystal City at the age of 9, and was active in Sunday School and choir in that church for many years.

She served as deputy recorder of deeds for Jefferson County. She was an active member of Business and Professional Women, as well as other civic organizations. She served a term as a member of the Board of Education of the Crystal City School District.

Survivors include two sons, Steven N. Trautwein and wife, Jody, of Cape Girardeau, Mark W. Trautwein and wife, Donna, of Crystal City; five grandchildren, Paul Scanlon and wife, Stephanie Hillman, of Seattle, Wash., Frank Trautwein and wife, Bobbie Jo, of Warren, Ohio, Niki Trautwein of Crystal City, Carly Trautwein and Janna Trautwein of Cape Girardeau; a great-granddaughter, Alexa Trautwein of Warren.

Also surviving is a nephew, Richard E. Wilson and wife, Annette, and their family of Fort Myers, Fla., and Maryland Heights, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Emma Filla of Canon City, Colo.; a niece and nephew by marriage, Janice Cheney of Clinton, Iowa, and James Trautwein of Round Rock, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband May 4, 1968; her only sister, Lucille Nengel Wilson Oct. 10, 1985; and a grandson, Christopher Steimel in 1979.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Thursday, April 19, in the chapel of the Baptist Home in Ironton.

Funeral service will follow immediately, with burial at noon in Rose Lawn Cemetery at Crystal City.

White Funeral Home in Ironton is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Baptist Home or to the Ernest and Lucille Wilson Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City.
