SIKESTON -- Grace Rhodes, 89, of Conway, Ark., died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1992, at Conway Regional Hospital. She was formerly of Matthews.
She was born April 6, 1902, in Hunt, Ark., daughter of William H. and Maude Moore Hanshew. She first married Jesse Hugh Thomas, who died in 1938. She later married William J. Rhodes July 9, 1945. He died Aug. 5, 1980.
Rhodes was a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Thomas of Sikeston, Clifton Thomas of Sacramento, Calif., Rev. Jesse Thomas of Conway; five brothers, Quinten Hanshew of Corcoran, Calif., Pleas Hanshew of Modesto, Calif., Arthur Hanshew of Oakhurst, Okla., Woodrow Hanshew of Sontage, Miss., Cecil Hanshew of Brookhaven, Miss.; four sisters, Eunice McCubbin of Modesto, Pearl Lewis and Jewel Jennings of Brookhaven, Violet Barnett of Sikeston; nine grandchildren; eight-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. W.H. Newman and Horace McCoy will officiate, with burial in Matthews Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
