Grace M. Albrecht, 101, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Sparta, Illinois, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at Lutheran Home.
She was born March 1, 1918, in Shobonier, Illinois, to William and Sophie Ehrat.
Grace was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She spent the majority of her life in Sparta, where she was a member of the garden club and active in her community. She taught Sunday school and was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League at St. John Lutheran Church.
In 2005, she and her husband, Hilmer, moved to Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau. After losing her husband of 69 years in July 2008, she continued to enjoy life and always had a smile on her face while spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel.
She is survived by her sons, Ken (Pat) Albrecht of Holland, Michigan, and Randy (Linda) Albrecht of St. Louis; daughter, Lynne (Rich) Cairns of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Keith (Nancy) Albrecht, Lisa (Eric) Messmer, Michelle (Mike) Shaw, Amy (David) Gaunce, Paul (Aimee) Cairns and Matt (Johanna) Albrecht; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jack Messmer, Lauren Albrecht, Maya and Oliver Albrecht and Sam, Max and Allie Cairns; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hilmer Albrecht; sisters, Dorothea Albright and Ruth Pontious; and brothers, Arthur Ehrat and Walter Ehrat.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Weston Wildauer officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Educational Endowment Fund or a charity of your choice.
