Gordon Lynn Galbreath, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born May 24, 1927, in Arthur, Ill., son of Raymond and Forestine Galbreath. He and Gennettia Pletcher were married June 4, 1953.
Galbreath was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, and received a master's degree from Eastern Illinois University at Charleston, Ill.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Galbreath was a teacher and backfield football coach at Granite City, Ill., High School.
He moved to Cape Girardeau in 2000. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and American Legion Post 63.
Survivors include his wife; and two sisters, Louise Taylor of Austin, Texas, and Lerae Busch of Colorado.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park with full military honors by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Honors Team.
