Goldie Statler, 94, formerly of Cape Girardeau and Jackson, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Big River Care & Rehab Center in Cedar Hill, Missouri.

Goldie had moved to Cedar Hill to be near her daughter, and entered the nursing home in November.

She was born May 10, 1920, in Bollinger County, to Thomas and Lillie Barks Bollinger. She and Thurman Statler were married June 29, 1939. He passed away Nov. 11, 2000.

Prior to marriage, Goldie attended Sargents Chapel Lutheran Church. She later joined the United Methodist Church in Sedgewickville, Missouri, and was currently a member of Fenton United Methodist Church. As she and Thurman moved during their marriage, she was always active as a Sunday school teacher and UMW in church; and also scouting and crafting.

Loving survivors include two children, Ray (Janet) Statler of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Pansy (Paul) McKinney of House Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson expected in early November.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Blaylock officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
