Glyen Ignatius Brown III, 53, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1965, in Sacramento, California, son of Glyen I. Jr. and Rachel A. Rodway Brown. He married Dawn Michell Griggs on Aug. 4, 2004; she survives.
Glyen entered the U.S. Army on Oct. 18, 1983, and was honorably discharged Oct. 17, 1987.
He moved to the Cape Girardeau area in 2004 and had worked as a dispatcher for BART Transportation Co. in Jackson the past several years. Glyen was a member of Fruitland Community Church and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He was an avid Los Angeles Angels fan.
Loving survivors include his wife, Dawn Brown of Cape Girardeau; son, Lucas Chronister of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Jennifer Brown of Stockton, California, Tracy (Wade) Weston and Stacy Pettibone; mother- and father-in-law, Elmo and Ruth Griggs of Annapolis, Missouri.
He is also survived by his two special canine friends, Buddy and Shelby.
Glyen was preceded in death by his parents and his pets, Coco and Tesla.
A memorial visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Fruitland Community Church in Fruitland.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Mike Parry officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family to assist with Lucas' education.
