Gloria Jean Brooks Sexton, 67, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Beckley, W.Va., daughter of CMS retired Roy Dee and Ruth Louise Sanson Brooks. She was married 30 years to the late CSM Robert C. Sexton, 10th Mountain Division HHC Fort Drum, N.Y.
Gloria was the 1985 recipient of the Artillery Order of Molly Pitcher Award.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by three daughters, Anona Hatch of Fayetteville, N.C., Darla (Kelly) Peitz of Smithfield, Va., and Sarina (Kevin) Webb of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren, Jacqueline, Robert and Eric Bugdanavage, Laura and Conrad Peitz, and Amanda, Emily and Bryce Webb; two great-grandchildren, Marissa Marley Dixon and Aleigha Jean Dixon; a sister, Hilda Solmita of Hackettstown, N.J.; two brothers, Roy Brooks of Little Mountain, S.C., and Ronald David Brooks of Clarksville, Tenn.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Wright.
