Gloria Sue King, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 25, 2020, at home, with family and friends by her side.
She was born May 25, 1945, in Perry County, Missouri, to Phillip Wainwright and Florence Ina Murray Barber. She and Gene King were married Oct. 4, 1975. He survives in Cape Girardeau.
She was a day care provider for many years, loving each child she looked after. She also worked at Thorngate LTD for a number of years and was a member of Brazeau Presbyterian Church in Brazeau, Missouri.
She loved watching the children she cared for as they got older in the activities they were involved in. She loved reading, word searches, being outside, talking with neighbors and taking care of her flowers.
She was a loving wife and aunt to so many.
She was happiest when she was around her family and friends.
She will be missed by all who knew her and forever in the hearts of those she touched.
Survivors include her husband of their home of 45 years; family friends, Lisa and Stephen Doza, and their children Dillan and Clay, of Altenburg, Missouri; and cousin, Jewel Habeck of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lois Neislein, Jo Ann Lane and Phyllis Hamlint; and brother, Benton Barber.
The family will have a private service.
