Glennon Jesse "Glen" Welker, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Perryville, Missouri, to Jesse and Frances Schumer Welker.

He and Florence Lappe were married Sept. 24, 1947, at Biehle, Missouri. She preceded him in death May 31, 2010.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Glen served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Perryville, Knights of Columbus Council 1111 and the Elks Club in Cape Girardeau.

He had been a concrete finisher and chain-link fence installer and was owner/operator of Welker Seamless Gutter Co.

Survivors include three sons, Larry (Xiufang) Welker of Gordonville, Jerry (Charlotte) Welker of Cape Girardeau and Floyd (Mary Ann) Welker of Butler, Missouri; a daughter, Carol Welker of Perryville; a sister, Beulah Brant of Denver; five grandchildren, Nichole Welker, Paula Welker, Jaime (Bret) Keeven, Janel Welker and Adam (Kate) Welker; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with parish prayers at 7 p.m., followed by a K. of C. Council 1111 rosary.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Memorial contributions may be given to Birthright or for Mass offerings.
