Glenn Allen Sparkman, 78, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005 at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of the late Thomas E. and Gertrude Gardner Sparkman.
Sparkman served in the Army from 1945 to 1947. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. He was formerly an insurance adjuster for MFA Insurance and co-owner of the Colonial Restaurant and Service Station. Sparkman also owned and operated the S&S Auto Repair Shop. Most recently, he was employed by the Cape Senior Center. Sparkman graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1944. He attended Southeast Missouri State University.
Survivors include two sons, Greg A. Sparkman and wife Lisa of Gordonville, Mo., and John G. Sparkman of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Teresa A. Dalton of Yorkville, Ill.; a brother, Dr. Thomas C. Sparkman and wife Carol of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Garret A. and Kaci Jo Sparkman of Gordonville, and Tatum M. and Jessie G. Dalton of Yorkville; two nephews, Kendall Sparkman of Miami, Fla., and Randall Sparkman of Cape Girardeau; his former wife, Mary A. Sparkman of Cape Girardeau; his mother-in-law, Gladys M. Sanders of Cape Girardeau; and his special friend, Ellie Hampton of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by four sisters.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews and Paul Bell officiating.
