Glenn Orville Smith Jr., 74, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born March 25, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, son of Glenn and Josie Turner Smith. He and Winona Erwin were married in June 1948, in Corinth, Miss.
A lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau, he was a graduate of Central High School.
Smith was a heavy equipment operator with Fruin-Colnon and Potashnick. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 513 in St. Louis, St. Mark Masonic Lodge 93, Disabled American Veterans, and Scottish Rite in St. Louis.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeff and Kevin Smith of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Christine Lewis of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Wilda Sprenger of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Friday. Masonic service will be at 7:30.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. The Rev. S.S. Borum will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
