Henry Glenn Reeves, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Lynchburg, Virginia to Hiram and Margaret Reeves. He and Rhoda Hord were married May 11, 1963, in Opelousas, Louisiana.
He was a graduate of Zacharey High School in Belcher, Louisiana. He received a degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and did graduate work at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
He started working at Sears in 1962 as a sewing-machine salesman and then moved on to door-to-door sales of vacuum cleaners for Sears. He took a management position in 1969 in Tampa, Florida. The family then traveled with Sears before finally settling in Cape Girardeau as the Sears manager and declaring he wasn't moving anymore. Glenn retired from Sears in 1986 and took on managing the family business, Horizon Screen Printing, which his wife, Rhoda, had founded. Glenn continued to work at Horizon along with his son Dru until reaching the age of 84 and officially retiring.
Glenn enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball, along with all the service groups he belonged to. He enjoyed spending time with his family while camping and watching them participate on the Gator Swim Team. Glenn also loved his time spent at Goose Creek Lake with his children and grandchildren, making precious memories for all.
He served during the Korean War era in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps as a second lieutenant.
He was a member of Missouri Small Business Association, Town Plaza Merchants (past president), Downtown Merchants, Cape Girardeau Rotary Club (past president), Girl Scouts of America (board member), Boy Scouts of America (assistant scout master) and Old Town Cape.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda Hord of Cape Girardeau; sons, Kevin (Molly) Reeves of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, Dean (Kerry) Reeves of Cape Girardeau and Dru (Tara) Reeves of Jackson; daughter, Sara (Ron) MacCubbin of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Conrad, Hayley, Meaghin, Brooke (Ryan) Cheney, Makenzie, Carter, Cooper, Branton (Hannah) and Brennan Reeves and Clayton and Cameron MacCubbin; great-grandchildren, Hattie Cheney and Braylin Reeves; brother, Graham (Patricia) Reeves of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; and sisters, Genevieve (Wayland) Carlisle of Dixie, Louisiana, and Trudy (Mike) Woodson of Waco, Texas.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
