SCOTT CITY -- Funeral for Glenn Monroe McLain of Scott City will be held at 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. Neil Franks will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau.

McLain, 86, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 7, 1911, at Oriole, son of Monroe and Myrtle Coomer McLain. He and Ruby Irene Akins were married Sept. 18, 1937, at Ink.

McLain had been a carpenter with Millworks and Supply Co. He was a member of Illmo Baptist Church and VFW Post 6407 in Scott City.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II

Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott Morton of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Glenna Wright of Commerce; four brothers, Ivan, Jesse and Bill McLain of Cape Girardeau, Jack McLain of Foley, Ala.; four sisters, Mary Wissman and Claire Mahy of Cape Girardeau, Carrie Wilhelm of Scott City, Susie Bryant of Baytown, Texas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.
