DONGOLA, Ill. -- Glenn W. Lingle, 86, of Dongola died at 2:05 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Jonesboro Health Care. He was born April 25, 1916, at Dongola, son of Ezzie and Ina Dillow Lingle. He and Virginia Jacobs were married Oct. 19, 1945, at Wilmington, N.C...

DONGOLA, Ill. -- Glenn W. Lingle, 86, of Dongola died at 2:05 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Jonesboro Health Care.

He was born April 25, 1916, at Dongola, son of Ezzie and Ina Dillow Lingle. He and Virginia Jacobs were married Oct. 19, 1945, at Wilmington, N.C.

Lingle was a member of Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee and elder. He was retired from the Choate Center in Anna, Ill., where he worked as a mental health technician. He was also a retired farmer, Army veteran of World War II, Pearl Harbor survivor, Purple Heart recipient, commander of the Dongola American Legion and a member of the VFW Post 3455 of Anna.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Glenn Lingle Jr. of Dongola, Robert Lingle of Anna and Carl Lingle of Dongola; a brother, Van Lingle of Dongola; two sisters, Jewell Featherly of Salem, Ill., and Lucille Smith of Loxahatchee, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5 to 8 p.m. today and on Tuesday until the time of the service.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dare Aden and Msgr. Tom Miller will officiate with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Military honors provided by Carroll P. Foster of VFW Post 3455.
