MOUNDS, Ill. -- Glenn E. Honey, 73, of Mounds, formerly of Tamms, Illinois, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born Feb. 2, 1941, in Tamms, son of the late Earl and Jewell Phillips Honey.
Glenn was raised in Tamms.
He served two years in the United States Army at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Glenn then became a lifelong farmer with three of his brothers. Although officially retired, Glenn still went to farm almost every day so that brother Gary "Gab" wouldn't fire him.
He was fun loving, outgoing, and an active person. Glenn loved nothing more than being on stage anywhere there was karaoke, singing for his many fans. He also loved to feed and entertain his friends and family, travel, fish, ride around the pond with his beagle, Lady Bug, and spend time with all of his hunters and the Diehlstadt Gang.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Clancy Honey; his second wife, Delores Carrington Honey; and two brothers, Delmar and Darrell W. Honey.
Survivors include his children, Todd Honey of Tamms, Wade Honey of Ogden, Kansas, and Deana (Edward) Bennett of Thebes, Illinois; stepchildren, Tommy (Jessica) Carrington of Mound City, Illinois, Anthony Dusty, Shelby, Andrew Penrod and Jackson Tanner; grandchildren, Cady Honey, Cameron Honey, Seth Bennett, Nathan Carrington and Madison Carrington; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Doug and Edna Honey, Gary Honey and Terry and Rachel Honey, all of Tamms; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clint Nale officiating. Interment will be in McCrite Cemetery in rural Tamms.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff at Saint Francis for their care and compassion.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the American Heart Association, 460 N. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63141, in memory of Glenn E. Honey.
