MATTHEWS -- Glenda Conrad, 88, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Latah Health Services in Moscow, Idaho.
She was born Feb. 5, 1911, at Matthews, daughter of Leroy David and Effie Mainord Waters. She and Benton Bollinger "Deac" Conrad were married May 29, 1938, in Sikeston. He died Sept. 3, 1983.
Conrad was a 1928 graduate of Matthews High School, and graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.
She began her teaching career in 1929 at Werner School, taught three years at York School, and with the exception of four years taught fourth grade at Matthews School from 1933-76.
Conrad was a charter member of Matthews Christian Church and had been a deaconess and Sunday School teacher. She was active in the Matthews Extension Homemakers Community Club, had been a 4-H leader, and did volunteer work at Sells Rest Home.
She moved to Pullman, Wash., in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Charles Conrad of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Dr. Bonnie Nelson of Pullman; a sister, Wanda Stone of Belleville, Ill.; a brother, Wallace "Scott" Waters of Sikeston; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Steven Waters, a nephew, and the Rev. Caston Counts will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
