Glenda Abbott, 79, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Oct. 15, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Ben and Goldie Townsend Bullard. She and Jerry Abbott were married April 19, 1952, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away Nov. 23, 1999.

Glenda was a lifelong member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. She enjoyed writing poems, songs and children stories; gardening, reading and listening to music.

Loving survivors include two sons, Paul (Jane) Abbott of Cape Girardeau and Andy Abbott of St. Louis; four daughters, Debbie (David) Robert of St. Louis, Nancy (Randy) Sides, Carolyn Neal and Amy (Ed) O'Howell of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Carye (Kelly) Moses, Tyler Beckett, Aubrey Neal and Asa Gray; and two great-grandchildren, Stone Moses and Jazlyn Mackins; three siblings, Joyce (Sonny) Deimund, Mary Standridge and Ben Bullard, all of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ruth Bodkin.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. A parish prayer service will be at 7 p.m..

The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Interment will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
