ORAN, Mo. -- Glen "Shug" Tenkhoff, 96, of Oran died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born Dec. 9, 1917, in Oran, son of the late Leo and Mary M. Metz Tenkhoff. He married Mabel Renaud on Nov. 25, 1976, and she survives.

Glen was a member of the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was a sergeant of the 556th Signal Aircraft warning battalion. He and his brother Bernard owned and operated E.W. Sales in Oran, where they sold automotive products. He was also a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran; the Knights of Columbus Council 4311; Morley, Mo., VFW Post 5368; and the Charleston Country Club, where he thought he was a great and avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel of the home; one stepdaughter, Sharon (Chris) Naas of Barlow, Ky.; three nephews, Jere (Carolyn) Tenkhoff, Mark (Linda) Tenkhoff and Mike (Connie) Tenkhoff; one niece, Mary Margaret (Al) Hammaher; 21 stepnephews and stepnieces; eight stepgrandchildren, Jennifer (Burlin) Brower, Eric Beardsley, Brandon (Lauren) Beardsley, Luke (Lindsey) Simmons, Amy (Neal) Thompson, Ashlea (Matt) Hogancamp, Sarah and Jason Naas; eight great-stepgrandchildren, Ellie, Brant and Alexa Brower, Addisen and Kloe Beardsley, Olivia and Appie Thompson and Wren Simmons.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Wally, Germain and C.J., Bernard and Jerome; one sister, Marcella; and one stepson, Doug Simmons.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. A parish rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Tuesday, followed by the K.C. prayers at the chapel.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant.

Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery on the hill, with full military honors presented by the Missouri Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Renovation Fund for Guardian Angel Catholic Church of Oran.
