PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Gladys E. Schemel Roy, 67, of Perryville, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born May 25, 1933, at Biehle, Mo., daughter of Arthur and Bertha Berkbigler Schemel. She and Robert L. Roy were married July 3, 1954. He died July 29, 1993.
She was co-owner of Rob Roy Nursery. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include four sons, Mark Roy, Keith Roy and Aaron Roy, all of Perryville, and Dean Roy of Chicago; a daughter, Robyn Duvall of Perryville; four sisters, Dorothy Zotta of St. Louis, Bea Schlimgen of Casa Grande, Ariz., Allie Kohl of San Diego, Calif., and Zelma Zoellner of Arnold, Mo.; two brothers, Richard Schemel Sr. and Kevin Schemel, both of Perryville; and 10 grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Sunday at Young and Sons Funeral Chapel in Perryville and from 6:30-9:30 a.m. Monday.
A wake will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, and rosary will be said at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
